Community Engagement
The activities below are ones carried out by members of our congregation
Burk Street Elementary School – “Link to be added later”
- Donate new hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves to the school, which gives these
items to the neediest children for Christmas. - Assemble birthday bags for all the students at the school.
- Prepare and deliver meals for teachers at the school on teacher’s workdays.
- Purchase and deliver Thanksgiving boxes to the neediest families.
- Create and donate Christmas food baskets and gifts for selected families.
Eastern Panhandle Empowerment Center
- Provide new or gently used purses filled with women’s toiletry items.
- Fill two blessing boxes every week with food and toiletries.
- Knit One, Pray Two. Our church manages a? multi-church group of people who knit
and crochet shawls and blankets for welcoming babies, and for those who are ill or
recuperating from surgery, grieving, and others. - Provide new stuffed animals (Katie’s Kritters) to Berkeley Medical Pediatric Unit and
Children’s Home Society in celebration of a couple’s daughter’s successful liver
transplant years ago
Martinsburg Union Rescue Mission
- Donate food and cleaning items to the Mission monthly.
- Prepare, transport, and serve a meal at the Mission.
- Deliver Kids Power Packs to Burke Street School
The Presbyterian Women’s group and the Tuscarora men’s group are involved in
many of the above activities
